ABOUT
“If they came to me right now and said, ‘We’re going to burn two out of the three of you—you, your brother, or your stories’...I’d have it be the stories they saved.”-Katurian
In this chilling pitch-black comedy, Irish playwright Martin McDonagh explores the purpose and danger of storytelling. In an imagined totalitarian country, Katurian, a short story writer, finds himself blindfolded in an interrogation room with two detectives. He soon learns that he is being held there because the grisly details of his stories have identically paralleled a recent string of brutal murders. He must come to terms with this horrible perversion of his work, as he struggles to decide which is more important: his legacy or his life?
PRESS
“Could such a young and inexperienced theatre company pull off one of the most difficult works of the 21st century? The answer is unequivocal: Yes. Yes, they pulled it off, and not only pulled it off, but produced one of the funniest, most horrifying, most moving and most enjoyable nights at the theatre that I have had in a long, long time.”
-Michael Poandl, DC Metro Theatre Arts
